While Structure Home often does the planning and execution of both home and landscape, we were exceptionally pleased to take on this landscape-only project. The existing classic Spanish home, spanning a vast lot one-acre property in Brentwood, California, was stunningly restored by the owner and his architect. The landscape design was produced by Josh Rezac of Studio Ma Design, complementing the home with a respect for the Mediterranean architecture.
The client’s goal was to create a landscape and hardscape that respected and preserved the large, mature trees existing at the site. Other than these existing trees, the entire property and landscape design was redone from the ground up.
The entry courtyard is protected by a motorized gate, cobble-stone drive court and lush landscape, creating a special sense of entry to the home. A porte-cochère connects the main and guest houses, leading onto the rear yard where one will find an enchanting garden surrounded by a mature landscape.
A sparkling pool, outdoor kitchen and al-fresco dining area, casual seating and large lawn areas for the kids to play, are all components that make this yard an amazing place to live and play. We are really proud of the results of this project – a client with a clear vision and a team who designed and accomplished all of the project goals for this Spanish-inspired landscape design fit for the pages of a magazine.
“I am very happy with the end result, and the process (considering we’re talking about construction!) couldn’t have been better, I don’t think. There’s always frustration and stress around these projects, I’m sure you know all too well, but you guys did an amazing job and I’m looking for opportunities to refer others to you as I think they will be equally pleased.
We of course spent more than we originally planned, but the end result is marvelous, my kids love it (as do I, both on my own and through them), and, to validate the entire thing, we did get a great appraisal (when I did my refi last month) for the house as completed, so I feel good about the money we spent as a business proposition, too. Just as an added bonus.
