Ready to pack away the shorts, summer dresses and beach sarongs? As the days get darker earlier, as well as wetter and colder, you’ll want to make your home feel that much cozier.
Grabbing a pumpkin spice latte isn’t the only way to bring the feeling of autumn into your home this fall. Take a look at our Autumn design trends below for easy and budget-friendly autumnal additions.
Blue in the Bedroom.
This fall, blue hues are in for the bedroom. And not in cool tones but rather warm tones to create a cozier feel.
Opt for a muddier shade of blue, staying away from anything too light. Wood furniture in varying stains can warm up any room, as can certain textures and patterns. Think seagrass or other natural materials for furniture pieces, and thick wool cable-knit throws and chunky-textured pillows.
Combine soft whites and beige with the blue to enhance the warmness.
Texture your Textiles
Switch out your cushions and throws for textures, patterns and colors that feel like fall. As the weather gets colder, you’ll want to snuggle deeply into your bed and couches with plush pillows and cozy throws.
Knitted textiles, faux fur, and softer plush fabrics are the way to go here.
The Colors of Autumn
Opt for colors that provide a soft, warm glow. From darker shades of brown or navy, to the more obvious colors similar to those of the leaves falling off trees, the right color can make your home feel like fall. Russet red, ochre, various shades of orange can all fit here.
Rugs and throws are the easiest addition here, but you could go further by painting your chosen autumnal color on to an accent wall, or buying a painting that includes fall colors, landscapes and moods.
Create More Light
As the days darken, keep the overhead lights off and add in a few more lamps. Subtle, varied lighting creates a much more welcoming and warm feel with soft light rather than too-bright overheads or even not enough light.
